Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies and Gliclazide

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Minor

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS

Why this applies to Gliclazide

Gliclazide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies interacts with.

Theoretically, taking apple cider vinegar, which is contained in Goli ACV, with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia (i.e., low blood sugar). Apple cider vinegar might reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels and decrease gastric emptying in people with diabetes, which could theoretically, have additive effects on glucose levels when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Severity Minor Likelihood Possible Evidence A

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: gliclazide already works to lower your blood sugar by helping your body release more insulin. Apple cider vinegar may nudge blood sugar down a little too, partly by slowing how fast your stomach empties after meals. Stack the two and, in theory, those small effects could add up, leaving you a touch more likely to dip into low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

Watch for the usual warning signs: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, sudden hunger, or feeling foggy. Honestly though, this is rated a minor, mostly theoretical concern, and the vinegar amount in a Goli gummy is small, so for most people it won't cause trouble. Still, since gliclazide can lower sugar on its own, mention these gummies to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your readings when you start.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Gliclazide page

“Gliclazide (Diamicron) lowers blood sugar on its own, so a supplement list this long deserves real respect. Most of the entries are herbs and nutrients that also drop glucose, fenugreek, bitter melon, and ginseng among them, and stacking them on top can tip you into hypoglycemia, meaning blood sugar low enough to cause shakiness, sweat…”

  • Digestive support
  • Heart health support
  • General wellness and energy

Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies are a flavored supplement that delivers a small amount of apple cider vinegar along with added ingredients like beetroot and pomegranate. While apple cider vinegar is popular for weight and blood sugar support, the human evidence is limited and the amount in each gummy is fairly low, so don't expect dramatic results. They are generally well tolerated, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you have a health condition or take medication.
