Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies and Glucose

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Minor

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS

Why this applies to Glucose

Glucose falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies interacts with.

Theoretically, taking apple cider vinegar, which is contained in Goli ACV, with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia (i.e., low blood sugar). Apple cider vinegar might reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels and decrease gastric emptying in people with diabetes, which could theoretically, have additive effects on glucose levels when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Severity Minor Likelihood Possible Evidence A

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's a quick thing to know if you're using glucose, whether it's glucose tablets, gel, or the IV form, to raise a low blood sugar. The whole point of glucose is to push your blood sugar up fast. Apple cider vinegar, the active part of these Goli gummies, may do the opposite by nudging blood sugar down a little and slowing how quickly your stomach empties. So in theory, the vinegar could work against the glucose you're taking to come back up.

Honestly though, this is a theoretical, minor concern, and the amount of vinegar in a gummy is small. If you ever need glucose to treat a low, treat it normally and don't let a gummy worry you. Just mention to your pharmacist or doctor that you take these, especially if you have diabetes or get frequent lows.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Glucose page

“Glucose given by IV raises a dangerously low blood sugar, and this list warrants real caution because most of its 256 ingredients pull the other way. Nearly all of them lower blood sugar on their own, working against the treatment and setting up another crash.”

What is Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies?

Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies
  • Weight management support
  • Blood sugar support
  • Digestive support
  • Heart health support
  • General wellness and energy

Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies are a flavored supplement that delivers a small amount of apple cider vinegar along with added ingredients like beetroot and pomegranate. While apple cider vinegar is popular for weight and blood sugar support, the human evidence is limited and the amount in each gummy is fairly low, so don't expect dramatic results. They are generally well tolerated, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you have a health condition or take medication.
