Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies and Repaglinide

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Minor

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS

Why this applies to Repaglinide

Repaglinide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies interacts with.

Theoretically, taking apple cider vinegar, which is contained in Goli ACV, with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia (i.e., low blood sugar). Apple cider vinegar might reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels and decrease gastric emptying in people with diabetes, which could theoretically, have additive effects on glucose levels when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Severity Minor Likelihood Possible Evidence A

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the gist: Repaglinide already lowers your blood sugar by nudging your pancreas to release more insulin, usually right around mealtimes. Apple cider vinegar, the acetic acid in these Goli gummies, may also gently lower blood sugar and slow how fast your stomach empties. Stack the two together and the effects could add up, so in theory your sugar might dip a little lower than expected.

To be fair, this is mostly a theoretical concern, the effect is rated minor, and each gummy contains only a small amount of vinegar. Still, watch for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling suddenly hungry. If you'd like to try them, check your readings and chat with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Repaglinide page

“Repaglinide (Prandin, GlucoNorm) is taken right before meals to drop blood sugar quickly, and that speed is exactly why this list deserves real respect. • General wellness and energy

Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies are a flavored supplement that delivers a small amount of apple cider vinegar along with added ingredients like beetroot and pomegranate. While apple cider vinegar is popular for weight and blood sugar support, the human evidence is limited and the amount in each gummy is fairly low, so don't expect dramatic results. They are generally well tolerated, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you have a health condition or take medication.
