Amitriptyline already tends to make people sleepy, and it's often taken at night for that reason. The concern here is simple: gotu kola may have its own mild calming or sedating effect, and lab studies hint it might gently nudge the brain's GABA system. So stacking the two together could add up to more drowsiness, grogginess, or feeling foggy the next morning than amitriptyline causes on its own.

Keep in mind this is a theoretical interaction. It's based on how these substances behave in the lab, not on real-world reports in people. Still, if you notice extra sleepiness, dizziness, or trouble concentrating, that's worth paying attention to. Don't change your amitriptyline on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding gotu kola so they can keep an eye on it.
