Here's the gist for labetalol: this isn't a case of gotu kola changing how much labetalol is in your system or how strong it works. Instead, the concern is about your liver. Labetalol is one of the medicines that can, in rare cases, irritate or stress the liver. Gotu kola has its own handful of reported liver problems, so the worry is that the two together could add up and be a bit harder on your liver.

I want to be honest about how shaky this evidence is. It's based on only a few case reports, and we don't even know for sure gotu kola caused them. So this is more of a theoretical caution than a real alarm. Still, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and flag any yellowing skin, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness.

What Is Labetalol Used For?

Labetalol tablets (Labetalol HCL, Labetalol Hydrochloride oral) are used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). They can be used alone or alongside other blood pressure medicines, such as diuretics. By lowering blood pressure, labetalol helps reduce the risk of serious events like stroke and heart attack.

Labetalol injection products (LABETALOL HCl, Labetalol HCl in Dextrose, Labetalol HCl in Sodium Chloride, Labetalol Hydrochloride intravenous) are used specifically for severe hypertension and are given intravenously in a hospital setting.
