Here's the simple version: American Hellebore is a genuinely poisonous plant that, even in tiny amounts, can drive your blood pressure and heart rate down sharply. Labetalol already does both of those things on purpose (it relaxes your blood vessels and slows your heart). Stack the two together and the effects can pile up dangerously.

What that might feel like with labetalol: dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, an unusually slow heartbeat, or feeling very weak or sleepy. This isn't a theoretical worry. The plant has well-documented heart and blood pressure effects, so the combination is considered a serious one. Labetalol tablets (Labetalol HCL, Labetalol Hydrochloride oral) are used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). They can be used alone or alongside other blood pressure medicines, such as diuretics. By lowering blood pressure, labetalol helps reduce the risk of serious events like stroke and heart attack.

Labetalol injection products (LABETALOL HCl, Labetalol HCl in Dextrose, Labetalol HCl in Sodium Chloride, Labetalol Hydrochloride intravenous) are used specifically for severe hypertension and are given intravenously in a hospital setting.
