Theoretically, taking Griffonia simplicifolia seed extract with CNS depressants might increase the risk of additive CNS depression.
Griffonia simplicifolia seed extract contains 5-HTP. In clinical trials, 5-HTP has been associated with drowsiness and somnolence.

Here's the thing with combining Griffonia simplicifolia and Perampanel (Fycompa). Perampanel already tends to make people sleepy, dizzy, or a little unsteady on their feet, and it can affect balance and coordination. Griffonia seeds contain 5-HTP, which in studies has been linked to drowsiness too. Put the two together and those calming effects may simply stack on top of each other.

I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how both work, not something proven in solid studies. Still, if you notice extra sleepiness, foggy thinking, or feeling off-balance, that's worth paying attention to. Don't change your perampanel on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Griffonia, especially since seizure medicines deserve extra care.

What Is Perampanel Used For?

Brand name: Fycompa

Perampanel — available as Fycompa and in generic forms — is used to treat partial-onset seizures (seizures that start in one area of the brain) in patients with epilepsy aged 4 years and older. Both the tablet and oral suspension forms carry this indication.

Perampanel tablets and oral suspension are also approved as add-on (adjunctive) therapy for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (grand mal seizures involving the whole brain at once) in patients with epilepsy aged 12 years and older. Fycompa oral suspension and tablet share both indications.
