Here's the simple version: both of these slow down your brain and nervous system, and stacking them can push that effect too far. Perampanel (Fycompa) already tends to cause drowsiness, dizziness, trouble with balance, and slowed thinking, especially when you first start or raise the dose. GHB is a heavy-duty depressant on its own, so combining the two can deepen that sedation and, in a serious case, slow your breathing down to a dangerous level.

This isn't about Perampanel being switched on or off in your body. It's about two sedating substances adding together. The evidence here is mostly anecdotal, but the risk is real enough that I'd urge you not to combine them. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist first, and remember GHB outside a prescription is unsafe and illegal.

What is Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (ghb)?

  • Alcohol withdrawal (in some countries)

GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is a powerful central nervous system depressant that is NOT a safe dietary supplement. In the U.S. it is a controlled substance, and only a tightly regulated prescription form (sodium oxybate) is legal for narcolepsy. Non-prescription GHB can cause coma, breathing failure, and death, and it is also a known 'date-rape' drug — it should not be taken outside of medical supervision.

What Is Perampanel Used For?

Brand name: Fycompa

Perampanel — available as Fycompa and in generic forms — is used to treat partial-onset seizures (seizures that start in one area of the brain) in patients with epilepsy aged 4 years and older. Both the tablet and oral suspension forms carry this indication.

Perampanel tablets and oral suspension are also approved as add-on (adjunctive) therapy for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (grand mal seizures involving the whole brain at once) in patients with epilepsy aged 12 years and older. Fycompa oral suspension and tablet share both indications.
