Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Aminophylline, Amobarbital, Ephedrine
Aminophylline, Amobarbital, Ephedrine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Guarumo interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combination product (Amesec) contains amobarbital, a barbiturate that calms and sedates the brain, alongside aminophylline and ephedrine, which are stimulating. The concern here is with the amobarbital part. In one animal study, guarumo extract had a sedating effect on the nervous system, causing drowsiness and loose, uncoordinated muscles. So in theory, pairing it with this barbiturate could add to that sleepy, slowed-down feeling, meaning more grogginess, dizziness, or trouble with balance.
I want to be honest that this is a theoretical worry based only on animal data, not human studies, so we don't really know how strong it is in people. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them, just to be safe.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aminophylline, Amobarbital, Ephedrine page
“Amesec is an unusual mix, a sedative barbiturate (amobarbital) plus the stimulant ephedrine and the asthma drug aminophylline, so its interaction list pulls hard in both directions and deserves real care, with 21 of the 151 ingredients rated major. The most everyday hazard is caffeine.”

About Guarumo
What is Guarumo?
- Type 2 diabetes / blood sugar support
- High blood pressure
- Cough, asthma, and bronchitis
- Heart failure symptoms
- Liver and rheumatic complaints
Guarumo (Cecropia obtusifolia) is a tropical tree used in Latin American traditional medicine, most often as a leaf tea for diabetes and high blood pressure. Some early laboratory and small human studies suggest it may modestly affect blood sugar, but the evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a chronic condition or take medication.
