Hydrochlorothiazide, Metoprolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Guarumo interacts with.

Evidence from animal research suggests that aqueous and ethanolic extracts of guarumo leaf can lower blood pressure when administered intravenously to rats. Theoretically, concomitant use of antihypertensive drugs with guarumo might enhance therapeutic effects and increase the risk of hypotension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Your combo pill pairs two blood pressure lowerers: hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill) and metoprolol (a beta blocker that also slows your heart rate). Guarumo has been studied as a folk remedy for high blood pressure, and in animal research its leaf extract lowered blood pressure too. So the concern here is simple addition. If guarumo nudges your pressure down while your medicine is already doing that job, the two could stack up.

What that might feel like: dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand, unusual tiredness, or a heart rate that runs low. Keep in mind this is theoretical, based mostly on lab and animal work, not strong human data. Please don't change anything on your own. Let your pharmacist or doctor know if you want to try guarumo so they can keep an eye on your numbers.
