Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
NITRATES
Why this applies to Isosorbide Dinitrate, Hydralazine
Isosorbide Dinitrate, Hydralazine falls under NITRATES — the group Hawthorn interacts with.
Some evidence shows that hawthorn might lower blood pressure due to vasodilatory effects.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
BiDil pairs two medicines (isosorbide dinitrate and hydralazine) that both relax and widen your blood vessels to ease the heart's workload. Hawthorn appears to do something similar, gently relaxing blood vessels and possibly nudging blood pressure down. Stacking these effects together could lower your blood pressure more than expected.
In real life, that might show up as dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, flushing, or feeling faint when you stand up. I'll be honest with you: this concern is mostly theoretical, based on how these compounds work rather than strong human studies. Still, since both touch the same system, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding hawthorn. Please don't start, stop, or change anything on your own.

About Hawthorn
What is Hawthorn?
- Heart failure symptoms
- High blood pressure
- Chest pain (angina)

- Anxiety
Hawthorn is a plant traditionally used for heart-related complaints, and some studies suggest it may modestly help symptoms of mild heart failure when added to standard care.
