Pravastatin Sodium falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Hemp Agrimony interacts with.

Hemp agrimony contains hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA). Theoretically, using hemp agrimony with hepatotoxic drugs might have additive adverse effects on the liver. Some drugs that can adversely affect the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol and others), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), isoniazid (INH), methotrexate (Rheumatrex), methyldopa (Aldomet), fluconazole (Diflucan), itraconazole (Sporanox), erythromycin (Erythrocin, Ilosone, others), phenytoin (Dilantin), lovastatin (Mevacor), pravastatin (Pravachol), simvastatin (Zocor), and many others.

Here's the concern with pairing hemp agrimony and pravastatin (Pravachol). This isn't about one changing the other's blood levels. Instead, it's about both being potentially hard on your liver. Hemp agrimony can contain natural compounds called pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which may damage liver cells. Pravastatin, like other statins, can occasionally bump up liver enzymes too. Used together, those effects could theoretically stack up.

I'll be honest with you: this warning is theoretical, based on how these substances behave, not on real cases in people. Still, hemp agrimony is one many experts already suggest avoiding by mouth because of the liver risk. Watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Pravastatin Used For?

Brand name: Pravachol

Pravastatin Sodium tablets are used alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet to treat high LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), high triglycerides (blood fats), and abnormal cholesterol levels. They are approved for adults and for children ages 8 and older with a hereditary form of high cholesterol called heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH).

In people without known heart disease, pravastatin helps reduce the risk of heart attack and cardiovascular death. In people who already have coronary heart disease (CHD), it is used to reduce the risk of heart attack, coronary death, stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), and procedures to restore blood flow to the heart — and to slow the buildup of plaque in the arteries.
