Trabectedin falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Hemp Agrimony interacts with.

Hemp agrimony contains hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA). Theoretically, using hemp agrimony with hepatotoxic drugs might have additive adverse effects on the liver. Some drugs that can adversely affect the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol and others), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), isoniazid (INH), methotrexate (Rheumatrex), methyldopa (Aldomet), fluconazole (Diflucan), itraconazole (Sporanox), erythromycin (Erythrocin, Ilosone, others), phenytoin (Dilantin), lovastatin (Mevacor), pravastatin (Pravachol), simvastatin (Zocor), and many others.

Here's the concern with pairing these two. Hemp agrimony can contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids, natural compounds that are tough on the liver. Trabectedin (Yondelis) is also well known for stressing the liver, and your cancer team already watches your liver enzymes and bilirubin closely while you're on it. Stacking a second liver-stressing product on top could add to that strain.

This isn't about hemp agrimony changing how strong your chemo is. It's simply two liver burdens at once, which could raise your risk of liver-related problems like rising liver tests, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or feeling unusually tired. The evidence here is theoretical, based on how each one behaves, but given trabectedin's known liver effects I'd play it safe. Please don't start any hemp agrimony product without first clearing it with your oncologist or pharmacist.

Yondelis (trabectedin injection) is used to treat adults with liposarcoma or leiomyosarcoma — two types of soft tissue sarcoma (cancer of connective tissue) — when the cancer cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable) or has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). It is indicated for patients who have already received a prior treatment regimen containing an anthracycline (a type of chemotherapy).
