Here's the simple version: Methantheline (Banthine) is itself an anticholinergic medicine. It works by blocking acetylcholine to calm muscle spasms in the stomach and gut. Henbane contains the very same kind of compounds (hyoscyamine, scopolamine, atropine) that block acetylcholine too. So you'd essentially be stacking two anticholinergics on top of each other.

When that happens, the side effects pile up rather than the benefit. You could see things like a very dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, a racing heart, confusion, or overheating. This concern is based on how these drugs work, not on a specific study, but it's a real and serious one given how toxic henbane is. Please don't combine them, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
