Here's the simple version: trifluoperazine (Stelazine) already carries its own mild anticholinergic activity, meaning it can dry you out and slow certain body functions. Henbane is packed with the same kind of compounds (hyoscyamine, scopolamine, atropine), so stacking the two would basically pile one anticholinergic load on top of another.

When that happens, you can expect those effects to get stronger and more bothersome: a very dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble emptying your bladder, a racing heartbeat, and confusion or overheating, which can be dangerous in older adults. This concern is based on how these compounds work rather than on direct studies, but henbane is genuinely poisonous and we don't recommend using it at all. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything like this.

What Is Trifluoperazine Used For?

Brand name: Stelazine

Trifluoperazine Hydrochloride tablets are used to manage schizophrenia. They are also approved for the short-term treatment of generalized non-psychotic anxiety — meaning anxiety that is not part of a psychotic condition — but only when other treatments (like benzodiazepines) are not appropriate.

When used for anxiety, Trifluoperazine Hydrochloride tablets must not be taken for more than 12 weeks, as longer use raises the risk of serious, potentially permanent movement side effects. It has not been shown effective for anxiety symptoms caused by physical illness, depression, or other non-psychotic conditions.
