Aminophylline, Amobarbital, Ephedrine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Hops interacts with.

This old combo product (Amesec) mixes three things, but the part that matters for hops is amobarbital, a barbiturate sedative. Hops are used to help people relax and fall asleep, so the concern here is simple addition: a calming supplement on top of a sedative drug. Theoretically, the two together could leave you more drowsy, groggy, or lightheaded than expected, with slower reactions.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical caution, based mostly on animal studies and how these things work, not strong human proof. Still, since barbiturates already cause real sedation, it is worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, especially if you drive.

Hops are most often used for sleep and mild anxiety, frequently combined with valerian, but the human evidence is limited and not very strong.
