Beyaz is a birth control pill that also delivers a folate (levomefolate). The concern with hops is pretty mild and mostly theoretical. Some hops compounds, like the plant estrogen 8-prenylnaringenin, can attach to estrogen receptors in lab dishes. In theory, that could nudge against the estrogen in your pill. But here's the reassuring part: most hops products contain only tiny amounts of these compounds, and this is based on test-tube and animal data, not real-world cases of pills failing.

So for everyday use, a hops-containing sleep tea or a normal supplement dose is very unlikely to affect your contraception. Since this pill is keeping you protected from pregnancy, I'd still mention any concentrated hops supplement to your pharmacist or doctor just to be safe.

Hops extract does not seem to affect the metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that flavonoid constituents of hops inhibit CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, a pharmacokinetic study in healthy postmenopausal patients shows that taking a standardized extract of spent hops containing prenylated phenols, as 59.5 mg twice daily for 2 weeks, does not affect levels of caffeine, a CYP1A2 probe substrate.

Good question about pairing hops with Beyaz (your drospirenone, ethinyl estradiol, and levomefolate birth control pill). The short version is reassuring. In a test tube, certain hops flavonoids looked like they might slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. But when researchers actually gave people a standardized hops extract for two weeks, it did not meaningfully change how that enzyme worked. So this is mostly a theoretical, lab-based concern that hasn't panned out in real people.

For your pill specifically, no significant interaction is expected, and your contraceptive protection shouldn't be affected by hops. One practical note: hops can make you a little drowsy, especially with valerian. If you have any concerns or take concentrated supplement doses, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Theoretically, hops extract might alter metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates; however, this effect may not be clinically significant.
Animal research suggests that specific constituents of hops, called lupulones, can induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzyme activity. However, a pharmacokinetic study in healthy postmenopausal patients with normal metabolism shows that taking a standardized extract of spent hops containing prenylated phenols, as 59.5 mg twice daily for 2 weeks, decreases the concentration of alprazolam, a CYP3A4 probe substrate, by 7.6%. This reduction is unlikely to be clinically relevant.

Beyaz is a combination birth control pill, and its estrogen (ethinyl estradiol) is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The thought here is that hops might nudge that enzyme to work a little faster, which could in theory lower hormone levels and, at the far edge, weaken how well the pill prevents pregnancy or cause breakthrough spotting.

Honestly, the evidence for this is very thin. It comes from animal and lab studies, and the one human study showed only a tiny 7.6% drop in a test drug, which isn't considered meaningful. So for most people taking hops short-term for sleep, this is unlikely to be a real problem. Still, since reliable contraception matters, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor.
