Here's the simple version: Vicoprofen contains hydrocodone, an opioid pain reliever that already makes a lot of people feel sleepy, foggy, or slowed down. Hops are mainly used to help with sleep, and in some animal studies they seem to have a calming, sedative effect. So the concern is just stacking two relaxing things on top of each other, which could leave you more drowsy, dizzy, or sluggish than you'd expect.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical interaction based on how hops behave, not strong human proof, so don't panic. Still, since opioids can slow your breathing and reaction time, it's worth being careful, especially before driving. If you're using both, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, hops extract might alter metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates; however, this effect may not be clinically significant.
Animal research suggests that specific constituents of hops, called lupulones, can induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzyme activity. However, a pharmacokinetic study in healthy postmenopausal patients with normal metabolism shows that taking a standardized extract of spent hops containing prenylated phenols, as 59.5 mg twice daily for 2 weeks, decreases the concentration of alprazolam, a CYP3A4 probe substrate, by 7.6%. This reduction is unlikely to be clinically relevant.

Here's the honest picture for Vicoprofen (hydrocodone plus ibuprofen). The hydrocodone part is handled in your liver partly by an enzyme called CYP3A4, and some lab and animal studies hint that hops might speed that enzyme up a little. If that happened, your body could clear the hydrocodone slightly faster, which in theory might make the pain relief feel a touch weaker.

That said, the real-world evidence here is very thin. A human study using a similar hops extract changed a test medication's levels by under 8 percent, which is too small to matter. So for most people, normal hops use isn't likely to change how your Vicoprofen works. Hops can cause drowsiness, though, and so can hydrocodone, so the bigger practical issue may be feeling extra sleepy. Check with your pharmacist or doctor if you have questions.
