Crizotinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Horny Goat Weed interacts with.

Theoretically, horny goat weed might increase the effects and side effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro, horny goat weed extract inhibits CYP3A4 and suppresses CYP3A4 mRNA expression. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Your body clears crizotinib (Xalkori) using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab tests, horny goat weed appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that effect carried over into people, your body might break down crizotinib more slowly, so more of it could build up in your blood. That could mean stronger side effects, like nausea, vision changes, swelling, fatigue, liver irritation, or heart rhythm changes (a longer QT interval).

Here's the honest part: this concern comes only from test-tube research, and it has not been shown in actual patients. Still, crizotinib is a serious cancer medicine where blood levels really matter, so please don't add horny goat weed without first checking with your oncologist or pharmacist.

About Crizotinib

What Is Crizotinib Used For?

Brand name: Xalkori

Xalkori (crizotinib) treats adult patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors test positive for ALK or ROS1 gene changes, as confirmed by an FDA-approved test.

Xalkori is also used for pediatric patients (age 1 and older) and young adults with relapsed or refractory systemic ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), and for adult and pediatric patients (age 1 and older) with unresectable, recurrent, or refractory ALK-positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT). Xalkori's safety and effectiveness in older adults with relapsed or refractory ALK-positive ALCL have not been established.
