Hydrazine Sulfate + Rasagiline
Rasagiline brand name: Azilect.
Hydrazine Sulfate has a moderate interaction with Rasagiline. Theoretically, concomitant use with other MAOIs might increase the effects and adverse effects associated with MAOIs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS (MAOIs)
Why this applies to Rasagiline
Rasagiline falls under MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS (MAOIs) — the group Hydrazine Sulfate interacts with.
Medications with hydrazine chemical moieties (e.g., phenelzine) are known to inhibit monoamine oxidase. Theoretically, hydrazine sulfate acts as an MAOI.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing these two. Rasagiline already works by blocking monoamine oxidase, the enzyme that breaks down certain brain chemicals like dopamine and tyramine. Hydrazine sulfate has a chemical structure (a hydrazine group) similar to older MAO-inhibiting drugs, so in theory it may block that same enzyme too. Stacking two things that act this way could push MAO inhibition too far.
If that happened, you might see exaggerated effects: a spike in blood pressure (especially after aged or fermented foods), headache, flushing, racing heart, agitation, or dizziness. I want to be honest though, this is a theoretical interaction based on chemistry, not proven studies. On top of that, hydrazine sulfate isn't recommended for any condition and carries its own nerve and liver risks. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rasagiline page
“Rasagiline (Azilect) treats Parkinson's disease by blocking monoamine oxidase, the same enzyme that clears tyramine from aged and fermented foods. That shared pathway explains most of the 14 major-rated interactions on this page.”

About Hydrazine Sulfate
What is Hydrazine Sulfate?
- Cancer-related weight loss (cachexia)
- Cancer treatment (unproven)
- Appetite stimulation
- Improving quality of life in advanced illness
Hydrazine sulfate is a synthetic industrial chemical that was promoted as an alternative cancer treatment, but well-designed clinical trials found it does not help people with cancer live longer or feel better. It carries real risks, including serious nerve and liver toxicity, and is not approved or recommended for any medical use. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before considering it.
About Rasagiline
What Is Rasagiline Used For?
Brand name: Azilect
Rasagiline tablets — sold as Azilect, Rasagiline, and Rasagiline mesylate — are approved to treat Parkinson's disease (PD). They can be used on their own (monotherapy) or added to other Parkinson's medications, including levodopa.
When used alongside levodopa, rasagiline helps manage Parkinson's symptoms that are not fully controlled by levodopa alone. Your doctor may adjust your levodopa dose when the two are combined.
