Ip-6 and Felbamate

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Felbamate and Ip-6 in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Felbamate

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Felbamate is filed under 8 classifications — including anticonvulsants, cytochrome p450 2c19 (cyp2c19) inhibitors, qt interval-prolonging drugs. Ip-6 has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate) — and none of Felbamate’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Felbamate page

“Felbamate (Felbatol) is a seizure medicine usually reserved for epilepsy that other drugs have failed to control, in part because it can stress the liver on its own. That history is why its 172 supplement and herbal interactions deserve real vigilance, starting with the 14 rated major.”

About Ip-6

What is Ip-6?

  • Antioxidant support
  • Cancer prevention interest
  • Kidney stone prevention
  • Heart and immune support
  • Reducing excess iron

IP-6 (inositol hexaphosphate, also called phytic acid or phytate) is a natural compound found in high-fiber plant foods and sold as a supplement, often paired with inositol. It is most studied as an antioxidant and mineral binder, but human evidence for its popular uses—such as cancer prevention—is limited and not conclusive. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have low mineral levels or a chronic condition.

Naturally found in whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds; supplements are usually made from rice bran or corn · Capsules, tablets, powders (often combined with inositol)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Ip-6 is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Ip-6 record says about it on its own.

Ip-6: dosing

There is no officially established or standardized dose for IP-6 supplements. Products vary widely, and many combine IP-6 with inositol. The best approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them.

About Felbamate

What Is Felbamate Used For?

Brand name: Felbatol

Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.

In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.
