Here's the thing to know if you take lithium and tolmetin together. Tolmetin is an anti-inflammatory pain reliever (an NSAID), and NSAIDs can make your kidneys hold onto lithium instead of clearing it out normally. That means your lithium level can creep up, which raises the odds of lithium side effects like hand tremor, nausea, increased thirst, frequent urination, or feeling foggy or unsteady.

Now, this concern is mostly theoretical and is best documented with prescription-strength lithium. With the small amounts in lithium supplements like lithium orotate, it's unclear whether it really matters. Still, I'd play it safe. Before combining these, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can check that it's right for you.
