Here's the gist for baclofen and lithium. The idea on file is that lithium may add to or prolong the muscle-relaxing, nerve-calming effects of skeletal muscle relaxants like baclofen. If that happens, you could feel more of baclofen's usual effects, things like drowsiness, weakness, feeling floppy or unsteady, or extra muscle looseness.

I want to be honest about how solid this is: it's a theoretical concern based on how these drugs behave, not something proven in people. It's also unclear whether the small amounts in lithium supplements (like lithium orotate) would matter at all. Still, since prescription lithium and baclofen are both serious medicines, please run this combination past your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

Lithium is a naturally occurring metal that, in prescription form (lithium carbonate or citrate), is an FDA-approved, well-proven treatment for bipolar disorder. Low-dose supplement forms like lithium orotate are sold for mood support, but there is very little reliable evidence that they work, and even small amounts of lithium can be risky for some people. What Is Baclofen Used For?

Brand names: Lioresal, Ozobax, Lyvispah, Fleqsuvy

Baclofen treats spasticity — the stiffness, muscle spasms, and rigidity that can come from neurological conditions. Oral forms (tablets, solutions, suspension, and granules) are used for spasticity from multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries or diseases. They are not intended for muscle spasm caused by rheumatic conditions like arthritis.

Intrathecal baclofen — delivered directly into the fluid around the spinal cord through an implanted pump — is reserved for severe spasticity that hasn't responded to oral baclofen, or when oral doses cause intolerable side effects. Gablofen (intrathecal injection) is specifically indicated for adults and children age 4 and older with spasticity of spinal or cerebral origin.
