Here's the simple version. This isn't about how your body breaks down quinapril or how well it controls your blood pressure. Quinapril itself can sometimes make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight in certain people. Masterwort contains plant compounds called furanocoumarins that do the same thing. Put the two together and the worry is that those sun-sensitizing effects could stack up, leaving you more prone to sunburn, redness, or a rash after time outdoors.

Keep in mind this caution is theoretical, based on how these substances behave rather than strong proof in people. Still, if you take masterwort, it's smart to use sunscreen and cover up outside. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Quinapril Used For?

Brand names: Accupril, Accupro

Quinapril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. Quinapril may be used alone or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when one medication isn't enough.

Quinapril tablets are also used in the management of heart failure as an add-on therapy alongside other standard treatments such as diuretics and/or digitalis.
