Here's the thing to know about pairing masterwort with isotretinoin: both can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Isotretinoin already does this on its own, so people on it often sunburn faster and notice more redness or irritation. Masterwort contains furanocoumarins, the same family of compounds that boost sun sensitivity, so stacking the two could add up and leave your skin even more prone to burning.

This concern is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave rather than reports of harm, so try not to panic. Still, since isotretinoin itself demands real sun caution, I'd play it safe. Use sunscreen, cover up, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding masterwort.

Modern scientific evidence to support these uses is very limited, and the plant can cause skin reactions to sunlight, so use it cautiously and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Isotretinoin

What Is Isotretinoin Used For?

Brand names: Accutane, Amnesteem, Claravis, Sotret, Absorica, Roaccutane

Isotretinoin is used to treat severe recalcitrant nodular acne — large, deep, inflamed breakouts (nodules 5 mm or bigger) that haven't cleared with conventional treatments like antibiotics. It is approved for non-pregnant patients 12 years of age and older. Brands include Absorica, Absorica LD, Accutane, Amnesteem, Claravis, and generic isotretinoin capsules.

Because of its serious potential side effects, isotretinoin is reserved for patients whose acne is truly severe and has not responded to other standard treatments. A typical course lasts 15 to 20 weeks, and many patients experience prolonged remission — sometimes permanent clearing — after a single course.
