Here's the thing to know about pairing masterwort with metolazone: it's not about how the drug is broken down. Instead, both can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Metolazone is a water pill that, like other thiazide-type diuretics, can already give some people a stronger sunburn reaction than usual. Masterwort contains furanocoumarins, the same family of compounds that boost sun sensitivity, so stacking the two could add up.

In practice, that might mean burning faster, getting a rash, or developing red, blotchy skin after time outdoors. This concern is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave rather than strong human studies, so don't panic. Still, if you'd like to try masterwort, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and use sunscreen and protective clothing.

What Is Metolazone Used For?

Brand names: Diulo, Zaroxolyn, Mykrox

Metolazone tablets are used to treat edema (excess fluid buildup) linked to congestive heart failure or kidney diseases — including nephrotic syndrome and conditions with reduced kidney function. They are also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either alone or alongside other blood pressure medications.

Metolazone tablets may also be used during pregnancy when edema is caused by a medical condition rather than normal pregnancy changes — but routine use in otherwise healthy pregnant women is not appropriate.
