Here's the thing to know about pairing masterwort with trimipramine: this isn't about masterwort changing how your body processes the medicine. Instead, it's about your skin. Trimipramine can already make some people more sensitive to sunlight, and masterwort contains furanocoumarins, plant compounds that do the very same thing. Put them together and the effect may add up, so you could sunburn faster or break out in a rash with less sun than usual.

I'll be honest, this concern is based on how these compounds behave, not on strong human studies, so it's more theoretical than proven. Still, it's easy to play it safe with sunscreen, hats, and shade. Before combining them, have a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Trimipramine Used For?

Brand names: Surmontil, Trimip, Rhotrimine, Tripramine, Trimp

Trimipramine capsules are indicated for the relief of symptoms of depression. Endogenous depression — depression that arises from within, rather than from an obvious outside cause — is more likely to respond to treatment than other types.

In clinical studies, trimipramine worked as well as imipramine in hospitalized patients with depression, and was comparable to amitriptyline in less severely depressed outpatients.
