Here's the gist for combining masterwort with selegiline. This one isn't about how your body breaks down the medicine or how well it controls your Parkinson's symptoms. Instead, both can make your skin more reactive to sunlight. Masterwort contains furanocoumarins (the same family of compounds found in grapefruit and wild parsnip), and selegiline carries its own sun-sensitivity caution. Stack them together and you may sunburn faster or break out in a rash, even on a mildly sunny day.

I'll be honest with you: this is a theoretical concern based on how these two behave, not something proven in studies, so it's a moderate worry rather than an emergency. Still, before adding masterwort, check with your pharmacist or doctor, and play it safe with sunscreen and covering up.

What Is Selegiline Used For?

Brand names: Carbex, Eldepryl, Emsam, Zelapar

Selegiline is used as an add-on treatment for people with Parkinson's disease who are already taking levodopa/carbidopa but are finding that the medication's effects are wearing off or becoming less reliable. It is not used alone — it only works as part of a combination approach.

In clinical studies, adding selegiline helped reduce the amount of daily levodopa needed, cut down on "off" time (periods when symptoms break through), and improved things like tremor, speech, movement, and overall daily function.
