Here's the thing to know about pairing masterwort with celecoxib: this isn't about how your body breaks the drug down or how strong the medication itself feels. Celecoxib already has a known tendency to make some people's skin more sensitive to sunlight. Masterwort contains furanocoumarins, which can do the same thing. So the concern is simply that the two together may stack up and leave your skin more prone to burning or rashes after sun exposure.

Keep in mind this is a theoretical caution based on how these compounds behave, not on hard human studies. Still, it's easy to play it safe with sunscreen, hats, and shade. If you'd like to use masterwort, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Modern scientific evidence to support these uses is very limited, and the plant can cause skin reactions to sunlight, so use it cautiously and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Celecoxib Used For?

Brand names: Celebrex, Elyxyb

Celecoxib capsules and the generic oral suspension treat the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) in children 2 years and older. Celecoxib capsules also treat acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods) in adults.

ELYXYB (celecoxib oral liquid) is specifically approved for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults — but it is not used to prevent migraines. VYSCOXA (celecoxib oral suspension) is not indicated for acute pain or primary dysmenorrhea.
