Here's the thing to know about pairing masterwort with fluoxetine (Prozac). This isn't about how your body breaks the medicine down, and masterwort won't change your fluoxetine levels in the blood. Instead, both can independently make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Fluoxetine carries a small chance of photosensitivity (think faster sunburn or a rash on sun-exposed skin), and masterwort's furanocoumarins do the same thing, so stacking them together could add up.

To be fair, this concern is based on how these two work in theory, not on strong real-world reports. Still, if you do use both, it's smart to wear sunscreen and cover up outdoors. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before starting masterwort.

Fluoxetine is approved to treat four conditions: major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa (a binge-eating and purging disorder), and panic disorder — with or without agoraphobia (fear of situations that feel hard to escape).

It works for adults across all four conditions, and for children and teens with depression (ages 8–18) and OCD (ages 7–17).
