Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the idea behind this one. Gamifant (emapalumab) is a powerful immune-calming antibody given for HLH, a serious condition where the immune system goes into overdrive. It works by quieting down an inflammation signal. Neem, on the other hand, has shown immune-stimulating effects in lab and animal studies, meaning it may rev the immune system up a bit.

So the concern is that neem could theoretically work against what Gamifant is trying to do and make it less effective. I want to be honest, though: this is based only on early lab and animal research, not real patient studies, so it's a soft signal. Still, with a condition this serious, I'd play it safe. Please run any neem product by your specialist before using it.

Neem is a tree from India used for centuries in traditional medicine, especially for skin, dental, and antimicrobial purposes. Some small studies are promising for oral health and skin, but high-quality human evidence is limited for most uses. Neem oil and seed extracts can be toxic if swallowed, especially in children, so use with caution and talk to your pharmacist or doctor first.
