Neem + Zolpidem
Zolpidem brand names: Ambien CR, Intermezzo, Sublinox.
Neem has a moderate interaction with Zolpidem. Theoretically, neem leaf extract might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Zolpidem
Zolpidem falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Neem interacts with.
In vitro research shows that neem leaf methanol extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. So far, this reaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with neem and your zolpidem. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear zolpidem. In lab and test-tube studies, a concentrated neem leaf extract seemed to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in real life, zolpidem could hang around longer and feel stronger than usual.
For a sleep medicine, that might show up as next-morning grogginess, feeling unsteady, dizziness, or trouble waking fully. The important thing to know: this is only a theoretical concern from lab work, and it has not been reported in people. Food amounts are unlikely to matter, but if you're taking neem capsules or oil daily, just give your pharmacist or doctor a quick heads-up first.

About Neem
What is Neem?
- Skin conditions
- Dental and gum health
- Antimicrobial and antiparasitic
- Digestive upset
- Blood sugar support
- Insect repellent/pesticide
Neem is a tree from India used for centuries in traditional medicine, especially for skin, dental, and antimicrobial purposes. Some small studies are promising for oral health and skin, but high-quality human evidence is limited for most uses. Neem oil and seed extracts can be toxic if swallowed, especially in children, so use with caution and talk to your pharmacist or doctor first.
About Zolpidem
What Is Zolpidem Used For?
Brand names: Ambien CR, Intermezzo, Sublinox
Zolpidem is used short-term for insomnia. Most formulations — including Ambien, oral tablets, and Zolpidem Tartrate Capsules — are approved to help people who have trouble falling asleep at bedtime. Zolpidem Tartrate Capsules are specifically indicated for adults under 65.
The extended-release formulations (including Zolpidem Tartrate Extended-Release Tablets) help with both falling asleep and staying asleep through the night. Sublingual tablets (Edluar, Zolpidem Tartrate Sublingual Tablet, and Zolpidem tartrate sublingual) are taken as needed when you wake up in the middle of the night and cannot get back to sleep — but only if at least 4 hours of sleep time remain before you need to be up.
