Propranolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Octopamine interacts with.

In humans, octopamine 450-600 mg daily increases blood pressure in hypotensive patients. However, evidence from animal research suggests that octopamine can lower blood pressure. Theoretically, concomitant use of octopamine and antihypertensive drugs might potentiate and/or reduce the activity of antihypertensive drugs.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the thing about pairing octopamine with propranolol: they pull in opposite directions. Propranolol is a beta blocker that calms your heart rate and relaxes blood vessels to bring your blood pressure down. Octopamine acts like a mild stimulant, related to adrenaline, and in human studies (around 450 to 600 mg daily) it nudged blood pressure up. So it could partly work against what your propranolol is trying to do.

This is rated a moderate, possible interaction, and the evidence is on the weaker side, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, if your blood pressure or heart rate feels off, or you notice palpitations, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Propranolol (Cardiovascular) Used For?

Brand names: Inderal LA, Inderal, Angilol, Syprol, Inderal Injection, Half-Inderal LA, Bedranol SR, Half Beta Prograne, Beta Prograne, Lopranol LA, Slo-Pro, InnoPran XL

This intravenous (IV) form of propranolol is used in hospital or clinical settings to treat dangerous heart rhythm problems. It is generally reserved for life-threatening arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) or those that occur during anesthesia.

Specific conditions it treats include fast heart rates coming from the upper chambers of the heart (supraventricular tachycardia), certain arrhythmias caused by digitalis toxicity, dangerous ventricular rhythms that haven't responded to other treatments, and fast heart rates caused by excess adrenaline-like substances during surgery.
