Aliskiren falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Octopamine interacts with.

In humans, octopamine 450-600 mg daily increases blood pressure in hypotensive patients. However, evidence from animal research suggests that octopamine can lower blood pressure. Theoretically, concomitant use of octopamine and antihypertensive drugs might potentiate and/or reduce the activity of antihypertensive drugs.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the thing to know if you take Tekturna (aliskiren) to lower your blood pressure. Octopamine is a stimulant-like compound that acts a bit like adrenaline, so it can nudge your blood pressure and heart rate in unpredictable ways. In some people it raises blood pressure, which could push against the work your aliskiren is doing and leave your numbers higher than you'd like. Animal studies hint it might sometimes lower pressure instead, so the direction isn't fully settled.

The evidence here is fairly limited and partly theoretical, so I don't want to alarm you. But because both affect blood pressure, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and keep an eye on your readings if you do.

Aliskiren and Tekturna tablets are both approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and in children who are at least 6 years old and weigh 50 kg (about 110 lbs) or more. Lowering high blood pressure reduces the risk of serious events like strokes and heart attacks.
