Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Acebutolol
Acebutolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Octopamine interacts with.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: octopamine is a stimulant-like compound that nudges the same 'fight or flight' receptors your acebutolol is trying to calm down. Acebutolol works by slowing your heart rate and relaxing blood vessels to bring blood pressure down. Octopamine can push in the opposite direction and raise blood pressure, so it may partly cancel out the benefit you're getting and make your numbers harder to control.
To be fair, the evidence here is limited and a bit mixed (some studies even hint it could lower pressure), so I don't want to alarm you. But since acebutolol treats both blood pressure and irregular heartbeats, I'd play it safe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding any octopamine or bitter orange product.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Acebutolol page
“Acebutolol (Sectral) lowers blood pressure and slows the heart, so the eight major-rated interactions on this list of 173 supplements deserve real attention. Most of the entries, well over a hundred, either stack on its blood-pressure-lowering effect and drop you too low, or push the other way and let your pressure climb back up.”

About Octopamine
What is Octopamine?
- Weight loss and fat burning
- Boosting energy
- Athletic performance
- Appetite suppression
Octopamine is a stimulant-like compound found in small amounts in some plants (such as bitter orange) and made naturally in the body. It is marketed mostly in weight-loss and sports supplements, but human evidence that it actually helps with fat loss or performance is very limited. Because it can affect the heart and blood pressure and is banned in some sports, talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it.
About Acebutolol
What Is Acebutolol Used For?
Brand names: Sectral, Rhotral
Acebutolol Hydrochloride capsules are used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. They can be used on their own or alongside other blood pressure medications, particularly thiazide-type diuretics.
They are also used to treat ventricular premature beats — extra, out-of-rhythm heartbeats that originate in the lower chambers of the heart. Acebutolol reduces how often these abnormal beats occur, including complex patterns that can be more concerning.

Acebutolol Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Acebutolol as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Octopamine — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
