Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Bendroflumethiazide
Bendroflumethiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Octopamine interacts with.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Bendroflumethiazide is a thiazide-type water pill that gently lowers your blood pressure and helps your body get rid of extra fluid. Octopamine is a stimulant-like compound that's a cousin of adrenaline, so it can nudge your heart and blood pressure in unpredictable ways. In some people taking higher doses (around 450 to 600 mg), it raised blood pressure, while animal studies hinted it might lower it. That mixed picture is why this pairing is worth a second look.
The worry here is that octopamine could work against your blood pressure control, making your readings creep up, or in some cases it could add to the drop and leave you feeling dizzy or lightheaded when you stand. This is mostly theoretical and based on weaker evidence, so don't panic. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding any octopamine product, and keep an eye on your blood pressure.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bendroflumethiazide page
“Bendroflumethiazide, a thiazide water pill prescribed for high blood pressure, sits at the serious end of the interaction spectrum, and the ten major-rated entries deserve attention first. About Octopamine
What is Octopamine?
- Weight loss and fat burning
- Boosting energy
- Athletic performance
- Appetite suppression
Octopamine is a stimulant-like compound found in small amounts in some plants (such as bitter orange) and made naturally in the body. It is marketed mostly in weight-loss and sports supplements, but human evidence that it actually helps with fat loss or performance is very limited. Because it can affect the heart and blood pressure and is banned in some sports, talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it.
