Pomegranate + Abrocitinib
Abrocitinib brand name: Cibinqo.
Pomegranate has a minor interaction with Abrocitinib. Theoretically, pomegranate might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Abrocitinib
Abrocitinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Pomegranate interacts with.
Some animal and in vitro research shows that pomegranate juice inhibits intestinal, but not hepatic, CYP2C9 isoenzyme activity. However, clinical research shows that neither pomegranate juice nor pomegranate extract have a significant effect on CYP2C9 activity in humans.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the simple version for Cibinqo (abrocitinib). Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to help clear this medicine. On paper, pomegranate could slow that enzyme a little, which in theory might let abrocitinib build up and nudge up its effects, things like nausea, headache, acne breakouts, or a slightly higher infection risk since it calms the immune system.
The reassuring part: human studies show pomegranate juice and extract don't actually meaningfully change CYP2C9 activity. So this is mostly a theoretical concern, and enjoying pomegranate as food or juice is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated extracts are less studied, so if you use those, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Abrocitinib page
“Bleeding is where I'd focus first with abrocitinib (Cibinqo), an eczema pill that can itself lower platelet counts. Of the 290 supplements and herbs with an interaction on file, 202 have blood-thinning or antiplatelet activity, and two of the three major-rated entries, danshen and piracetam, sit in that group.”

About Pomegranate
What is Pomegranate?
- Heart and blood vessel health
- Antioxidant support
- High blood pressure
- Inflammation
- Digestive upset
- Skin health
Pomegranate is a nutrient-rich fruit that is high in antioxidants and is widely enjoyed as food and juice. Early research suggests it may support heart health and blood pressure, but the evidence is still limited and not strong enough to call it a proven treatment. As a food it is generally safe, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated extracts, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or take medications.
About Abrocitinib
What Is Abrocitinib Used For?
Brand name: Cibinqo
Cibinqo (abrocitinib) is used to treat moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It is specifically for people whose eczema has not been adequately controlled with other systemic (whole-body) treatments, including biologics, or when those treatments are not a safe option.
Cibinqo is not recommended to be used at the same time as other JAK inhibitors, biologic immunomodulators, or other immunosuppressants (medicines that reduce immune system activity).
