ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Quinethazone
Quinethazone falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Pomegranate interacts with.
Consuming pomegranate juice can modestly lower blood pressure.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Quinethazone (Hydromox) is a thiazide-type water pill that lowers blood pressure by helping your body shed extra fluid and salt. Pomegranate juice, on its own, can nudge blood pressure down a little too. So the concern here is simple: stack the two together and your blood pressure could dip lower than expected.
If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, especially when standing up quickly. Keep in mind this is mostly a theoretical, gentle add-on effect, and the blood-pressure drop from pomegranate is modest. Enjoying it as a food or occasional glass of juice is unlikely to cause trouble for most people. Concentrated extracts are where I'd be more cautious. If you take Quinethazone regularly, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding pomegranate supplements.

About Pomegranate
What is Pomegranate?
- Heart and blood vessel health
- Antioxidant support
- High blood pressure
- Inflammation
- Digestive upset
- Skin health
Pomegranate is a nutrient-rich fruit that is high in antioxidants and is widely enjoyed as food and juice. Early research suggests it may support heart health and blood pressure, but the evidence is still limited and not strong enough to call it a proven treatment. As a food it is generally safe, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated extracts, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or take medications.
