Pazopanib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Purple Nut Sedge interacts with.

In vitro, purple nut sedge inhibits platelet aggregation. Theoretically, purple nut sedge might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing with pazopanib (Votrient): this kidney cancer medicine can already raise your bleeding risk on its own. It can affect how blood vessels heal and how platelets behave, so bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or rarely more serious bleeding are known concerns.

Purple nut sedge has shown, in test-tube studies only, that it may keep platelets from clumping together. So in theory, stacking it on top of pazopanib could add to that bleeding tendency. I want to be honest though, this is lab-dish evidence, not proof in people, so don't panic. Still, since two things nudging the same direction can add up, please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before combining them, and report any unusual bruising or bleeding.

What Is Pazopanib Used For?

Brand name: Votrient

Pazopanib tablets — sold as the brand Votrient and as generic pazopanib — are used to treat two types of advanced cancer in adults: advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the most common form of kidney cancer, and advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in patients who have already received prior chemotherapy.

Important limitation: Pazopanib has not been shown to work in adipocytic soft tissue sarcoma (a subtype involving fat cells) or in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), so it is not used for those cancers.
