Quercetin + Lansoprazole
Lansoprazole brand name: Prevacid.
Quercetin has a moderate interaction with Lansoprazole. Theoretically, concomitant use might alter the effects and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Lansoprazole
Lansoprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Quercetin interacts with.
A small clinical study in healthy volunteers shows that pretreatment with quercetin increases plasma levels and prolongs the half-life of a single dose of cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), a substrate of CYP3A4. Animal research also shows that pretreatment with quercetin increases plasma levels and prolongs the half-life of losartan (Cozaar) and quetiapine (Seroquel), substrates of CYP3A4. Other laboratory research also shows that quercetin inhibits CYP3A4. However, one clinical study shows that quercetin can increase the metabolism of midazolam, a substrate of CYP3A4, and decrease serum concentrations of midazolam by about 24% in some healthy individuals, suggesting possible induction of CYP3A4.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with quercetin and your lansoprazole (Prevacid). Lansoprazole is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and quercetin can tinker with that same enzyme in the lab. In theory, if quercetin slows that enzyme down, a little more lansoprazole could hang around, which might mean slightly stronger effects or side effects like headache, nausea, or loose stools. Other research actually hints quercetin might speed the enzyme up instead, so the direction isn't even settled.
The big picture: this is theoretical, based mostly on test-tube and animal studies, and lansoprazole is a fairly forgiving medicine. Food amounts of quercetin are very unlikely to matter. If you're considering high-dose supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Lansoprazole page
“Heartburn and reflux send plenty of people toward both lansoprazole (Prevacid) and the supplement aisle, and that pairing calls for genuine care, since three of the 153 ingredients on file here carry major-rated interactions. Most of the list works through the liver enzymes that clear lansoprazole, either slowing them down (grapefruit,…”

About Quercetin
What is Quercetin?
- Seasonal allergies
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and blood pressure health
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Immune support
- Exercise recovery
Quercetin is a plant flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties found in many common foods and sold as a supplement. While early research is interesting for allergies, blood pressure, and inflammation, strong human evidence is limited for most uses. It is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking high-dose supplements.
About Lansoprazole
What Is Lansoprazole Used For?
Brand name: Prevacid
Lansoprazole is prescribed for a range of conditions where excess stomach acid is the problem. It treats active stomach and duodenal ulcers (sores in the stomach or upper small intestine), helps heal ulcers caused by NSAID pain relievers, and can reduce the risk of those ulcers coming back.
It's also used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis (acid damage to the esophagus), and rare conditions where the stomach makes far too much acid — like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. When combined with antibiotics, it helps wipe out H. pylori bacteria that cause recurring ulcers.

Natural Medicines records Lansoprazole as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Quercetin — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
