Here's the gist for anyone taking Norco or Vicodin (acetaminophen with hydrocodone) alongside a rauwolscine supplement. Hydrocodone, like other opioids, can slightly lower the seizure threshold, meaning it makes the brain a touch more prone to a seizure. Rauwolscine, a stimulant cousin of yohimbine, may do the same thing. Stacking the two could, in theory, add up.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this comes from animal lab research, not human studies, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Still, rauwolscine can spike heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety on its own, which doesn't mix well with a sedating opioid. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, rauwolscine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the wrinkle with this combo. The hydrocodone in Vicodin and Norco is actually a prodrug, meaning your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert part of it into hydromorphone, which carries some of the pain-relieving punch. Rauwolscine is a cousin of yohimbine, and lab studies suggest yohimbine can block CYP2D6. So in theory, rauwolscine could slow that conversion and leave you with a bit less pain relief from your dose.

I want to be honest though: this is purely theoretical, based on test-tube data, not real people. Most folks won't notice much. The bigger practical concern is that rauwolscine is a stimulant that raises heart rate and blood pressure, while hydrocodone is sedating, so they tug in opposite directions. If you take both, please check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. Human evidence for its benefits is very limited, and it can raise heart rate and blood pressure and cause anxiety, so it should be used with caution and is not recommended for people with heart conditions, anxiety, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
