Here's the thing about Auvelity (the bupropion and dextromethorphan combo): bupropion is already known to lower the seizure threshold, meaning it can make a seizure slightly more likely, especially at higher doses or in people who are prone to them. Rauwolscine, found in a lot of pre-workout and fat-burner supplements, may nudge that threshold down even further. Stacking the two could, in theory, raise the chance of a seizure.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This concern comes from animal lab work, not human studies, so it's more of a caution flag than a proven problem. Rauwolscine can also crank up heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety on its own, which doesn't pair nicely with bupropion's stimulating side. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

Theoretically, rauwolscine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the situation with Auvelity (bupropion plus dextromethorphan). The dextromethorphan part is normally broken down by an enzyme called CYP2D6. Interestingly, bupropion itself blocks that same enzyme on purpose, which is how Auvelity keeps dextromethorphan levels high enough to work in the brain. Rauwolscine is a cousin of yohimbine, and lab studies hint that yohimbine can also slow CYP2D6.

So in theory, adding rauwolscine could nudge dextromethorphan levels up a bit more, possibly leading to dizziness, drowsiness, or nausea. Honestly though, this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube data, not human studies. The bigger worry is rauwolscine's own stimulant push on heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety, which can stack with bupropion. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor first.
