These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Rauwolscine interacts with whole categories of medication. Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Rauwolscine in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide
Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Rauwolscine interacts with.
In animal research, intraperitoneal rauwolscine lowered the seizure threshold level of the drug metrazol.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist of it. Both rauwolscine and the cough and cold combo in Coricidin can, in theory, make the brain a little more prone to seizures. Dextromethorphan and chlorpheniramine are each known to nudge the seizure threshold down, especially at higher doses, and rauwolscine (a yohimbine cousin) did the same thing in animal studies. Stack them and that effect could add up.
I want to be honest though: the evidence here is weak, based on lab and animal research, not real people. For most folks taking normal doses this isn't a major worry. Still, if you have a seizure history, heart issues, or notice jitteriness, racing heart, or unusual confusion, check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with this combo. Both ingredients in your cough and cold product, the antihistamine (chlorpheniramine) and the cough suppressant (dextromethorphan), are partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Rauwolscine is a close cousin of yohimbine, and in lab studies yohimbine can slow that enzyme down. If that holds true in people, these medicines could clear a bit slower and build up, making their effects stronger.
In plain terms, you might feel more drowsy, dizzy, dry-mouthed, or foggy than usual, and dextromethorphan in higher amounts can occasionally cause restlessness or feeling spaced out. Keep in mind this is theoretical, based only on test-tube data, so it may not amount to much. Still, since rauwolscine itself is a stimulant that raises heart rate, it's worth running this pairing past your pharmacist before mixing them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide page
“Grapefruit is the interaction I would flag first for anyone taking chlorpheniramine with dextromethorphan (Coricidin HBP Cough & Cold). It blocks the enzyme that clears these ingredients, so levels and side effects can climb.”
