In animal research, intraperitoneal rauwolscine lowered the seizure threshold level of the drug metrazol.

Here's the gist for co-codamol (the codeine plus paracetamol combo). Both of these drugs can, at higher doses, nudge your brain a little closer to having a seizure. Rauwolscine, the stimulant in some fat-burner and pre-workout products, did the same thing in animal studies. Putting them together could, in theory, raise the chance of a seizure, especially if you're taking a lot of codeine or already prone to seizures.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is: the evidence comes only from animal lab work, not people, so it's a theoretical concern rather than something we see often. Still, rauwolscine can also spike your heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety on its own. If you take co-codamol regularly, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this supplement.

Codeine, Paracetamol also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, rauwolscine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the wrinkle with co-codamol: the codeine part is what we call a prodrug. Your body has to convert codeine into morphine using an enzyme called CYP2D6 before you really feel pain relief. Rauwolscine is a cousin of yohimbine, and lab tests suggest yohimbine can block that very enzyme. If that holds true here, less of your codeine would turn into morphine, so you might get weaker pain relief than expected. The paracetamol side isn't really affected.

I want to be straight with you: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube data, not real patient reports, so it may not amount to much. Still, if your pain isn't well controlled, mention the supplement to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. Human evidence for its benefits is very limited, and it can raise heart rate and blood pressure and cause anxiety, so it should be used with caution and is not recommended for people with heart conditions, anxiety, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
