Here's the idea behind this pairing. Rauwolscine is a close cousin of yohimbine, and lab studies suggest yohimbine can slow down an enzyme called CYP2D6. Since your body uses CYP2D6 to help clear dextroamphetamine, blocking it could let more of the drug hang around longer than usual.

If that happens, you might notice stronger stimulant effects, things like a racing heart, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or anxiety. And remember, rauwolscine is a stimulant all on its own, so stacking the two could add to that pile even more. I'll be honest though, this is theoretical and based only on test-tube data, not real patients. Still, given the overlapping effects, I'd run this combo past your doctor or pharmacist before mixing them.

Here's the simple version: both rauwolscine and dextroamphetamine push your body's natural stimulant chemicals in the same direction. Dextroamphetamine already ramps up norepinephrine and dopamine, and rauwolscine appears to release even more norepinephrine by blocking the brakes (alpha-2 receptors) that normally keep it in check. Stacked together, the worry is too much of a stimulant push at once.

In practice, that could mean a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or feeling anxious or on edge. I'll be honest with you, though: this concern comes mostly from animal and lab studies, not solid human trials, so it's more of a sensible caution than a proven danger. Still, since both are stimulants, please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them, especially if you have any heart concerns.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. Human evidence for its benefits is very limited, and it can raise heart rate and blood pressure and cause anxiety, so it should be used with caution and is not recommended for people with heart conditions, anxiety, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What Is Dextroamphetamine Used For?

Brand name: Dexedrine

Dextroamphetamine treats two conditions: ADHD and narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness). It is available in multiple forms — tablets, extended-release capsules, oral solution, and a skin patch — and the approved age ranges vary by product.

Oral tablets (Zenzedi, generic) and oral solutions (Procentra, generic) are approved for ADHD in children as young as 3 years old and for narcolepsy. Extended-release capsules (Dexedrine, generic) are approved for ADHD in children ages 6 to 16 and for narcolepsy. Xelstrym, the transdermal patch, is approved only for ADHD — in adults and children ages 6 and older — and is not indicated for narcolepsy.
