Fenfluramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Rauwolscine interacts with.

Theoretically, rauwolscine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist for your child's fenfluramine (Pondimin). Your body partly clears this seizure medicine using a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Rauwolscine is closely related to yohimbine, and lab studies suggest yohimbine can slow down that same enzyme. If rauwolscine does the same in real life, fenfluramine could be cleared more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean more side effects like drowsiness, reduced appetite, or changes in heart rate or blood pressure.

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based on test-tube findings, not real patient cases. Still, fenfluramine needs careful heart monitoring, and rauwolscine itself raises heart rate and blood pressure. That combination concerns me. Please run it by your neurologist or pharmacist before mixing the two.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. What Is Fenfluramine Used For?

Brand name: Pondimin

Fintepla (fenfluramine oral solution) is approved to treat seizures associated with Dravet syndrome (DS) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in patients 2 years of age and older. It is used alongside other antiseizure medications.

Both conditions are severe, often hard-to-control forms of epilepsy that typically begin in childhood. Fintepla is available only through a restricted program called the Fintepla REMS because of serious heart-related risks.
