Rauwolscine and Nitrendipine

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKERS

Why this applies to Nitrendipine

Nitrendipine falls under CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKERS — the group Rauwolscine interacts with.

Theoretically, rauwolscine may have additive coronary vasodilatory effects if used with calcium channel blockers.
In vitro, rauwolscine inhibits calcium influx in aortic smooth muscle cells.

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the situation if you're thinking about pairing rauwolscine with nitrendipine (Cardif). Nitrendipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. In lab studies, rauwolscine has also shown some ability to block calcium from entering blood vessel muscle, so in theory the two could add together and widen your vessels a bit more than expected.

If that happened, you might notice more lightheadedness, dizziness when standing, flushing, headache, or ankle swelling. I want to be honest, though: this is based only on test-tube and animal data, not real people, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Rauwolscine can also push heart rate and blood pressure the other way, so the net effect is hard to predict. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Nitrendipine page

“Nitrendipine (Cardif) lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, and because the liver clears it through a single enzyme pathway called CYP3A4, this interaction list runs long and deserves genuine attention. Most of the 143 ingredients on file can raise or lower the drug's blood level by slowing or speeding that enzyme, which for…”

  • Bodybuilding and physique support

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. Human evidence for its benefits is very limited, and it can raise heart rate and blood pressure and cause anxiety, so it should be used with caution and is not recommended for people with heart conditions, anxiety, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
