Ondansetron falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Rauwolscine interacts with.

Theoretically, rauwolscine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the situation with your Zofran (ondansetron). Your body relies partly on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear this medicine out. Rauwolscine is a cousin of yohimbine, and in test-tube studies yohimbine slowed that same enzyme down. So in theory, taking rauwolscine could let ondansetron build up a bit higher than usual, which might mean stronger side effects like headache, constipation, or feeling tired or lightheaded.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based only on lab data, not on real people, so it may not amount to much. Ondansetron is a prevention drug, not a prodrug, so it would still work fine. Just mention to your pharmacist or doctor that you take rauwolscine so they can keep an eye on things.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. Human evidence for its benefits is very limited, and it can raise heart rate and blood pressure and cause anxiety, so it should be used with caution and is not recommended for people with heart conditions, anxiety, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

About Ondansetron

What Is Ondansetron Used For?

Brand name: Zofran

Ondansetron is used to prevent nausea and vomiting in several situations. Oral forms (tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, and oral solution) are approved to prevent nausea and vomiting from highly or moderately emetogenic (nausea-causing) cancer chemotherapy, from radiation therapy to the abdomen or whole body, and from surgery.

Ondansetron injection (given intravenously or intramuscularly in a clinical setting) is approved to prevent nausea and vomiting from emetogenic cancer chemotherapy — including high-dose cisplatin — in adults and children as young as 6 months old, as well as to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting.
