ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Ethacrynic Acid
Ethacrynic Acid falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: reishi mushroom may gently lower blood pressure on its own. Ethacrynic acid (Edecrin) is a strong water pill that pulls extra fluid and salt out of your body, and that can also bring your blood pressure down. Put them together and those effects can add up, so you could feel dizzy, lightheaded, or wobbly when you stand up, especially if you're already losing a lot of fluid.
Keep this in perspective though. This warning is based mostly on lab and animal studies, with only mixed results in people, so it's more of a theoretical concern than a sure thing. If you'd like to try reishi, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and watch for dizziness or unusual weakness.

About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Ethacrynic Acid
What Is Ethacrynic Acid Used For?
Brand name: Edecrin
Ethacrynic acid tablets (sold as Edecrin and Ethacrynic Acid) are used to treat edema — fluid buildup in the body — when stronger-than-usual diuretic action is needed. It is approved for edema related to congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, and kidney disease, including nephrotic syndrome.
It is also used for short-term management of fluid buildup from malignancy, idiopathic edema, and lymphedema, as well as short-term treatment of hospitalized children (not infants) with congenital heart disease or nephrotic syndrome.
