Reishi Mushroom + Ticagrelor
Ticagrelor brand name: Brilinta.
Reishi Mushroom has a moderate interaction with Ticagrelor. Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ticagrelor
Ticagrelor falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Brilinta (ticagrelor) is already a strong blood thinner that keeps your platelets from clumping together, which is exactly what protects your heart and helps prevent clots after a stent or heart attack. The concern here is that reishi may add a little extra blood-thinning effect on top of it. At lower amounts (around 1.5 grams a day) reishi doesn't seem to affect platelets, but higher doses (about 3 grams daily) might. Stacked with ticagrelor, that could mean a higher chance of bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or bleeding that's slow to stop.
Keep in mind this is theoretical and comes mainly from lab and animal work, so it's not a sure thing. Still, since ticagrelor matters so much, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding reishi.

This page covers Reishi Mushroom only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Ticagrelor page lists 286 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

By severity: 5 major · 241 moderate · 40 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ticagrelor page
“Grapefruit sits at the top of this list for good reason. Ticagrelor (Brilinta) is cleared by the CYP3A4 enzyme, and grapefruit blocks that enzyme, so drug levels can climb and bleeding becomes more likely.”

About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Ticagrelor
What Is Ticagrelor Used For?
Brand name: Brilinta
Ticagrelor tablets are used to lower the risk of cardiovascular death, heart attack (myocardial infarction), and stroke in adults who have had acute coronary syndrome (ACS) — a group of conditions including unstable angina and heart attack — or who have a history of heart attack. It also reduces the risk of stent thrombosis (a blood clot forming in a coronary stent) in people who have been stented for ACS treatment.
Ticagrelor tablets are also used in people with coronary artery disease (CAD) who are at high risk for a first heart attack or stroke, particularly those with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, Brilinta is approved to reduce the risk of stroke in adults with a mild acute ischemic stroke or a high-risk transient ischemic attack (TIA, or "mini-stroke").
